A licence for the fonts we drew.
Use it anywhere you like, for as long as you like, and you don’t have to credit us. Just don’t hand the files on to anyone else. That’s the whole agreement, and the rest of this page only says it more carefully.

01What this covers
This licence covers the typefaces we sell in the Pothooks shop, Pothooks Sans and Pothooks Blob, and every file in the zip you downloaded: each weight in OTF, WOFF and WOFF2. It starts when your payment goes through, and it doesn’t expire.
It isn’t the licence that comes with a font you draw yourself in Pothooks. That one hands the font over outright, resale and all, because you made every stroke of it and we hold nothing in your handwriting to keep back. We drew these two, so this is a licence to use them.

02What you may do
Everything below comes with the price. You don’t need to ask us about any of it, and none of it has a limit attached.
- 01Install them on as many computers as you like, yours or your colleagues’. We don’t count seats and there’s nothing to register.
- 02Use them commercially, with no cap on revenue, clients, company size or number of projects.
- 03Serve them on as many websites as you like, with no pageview limit.
- 04Embed them in apps, games, documents, PDFs and ebooks.
- 05Put them on things you sell, printed, physical or digital.
- 06Use them in a logo, and register that logo as a trademark.
- 07Change them for your own use, including converting them to formats we don’t ship.
- 08Do all of that without crediting Pothooks anywhere.
03What you may not do
The only restriction is on passing the files on. Everything in this clause is a version of that, and none of it limits what you make with the font.
- 01Pass the font files on or sell them, by themselves or inside something else, free or paid. That includes uploading them to a font site, a template marketplace, a theme, a plugin, or a public repository.
- 02Sublicense them, or hand the files to a client, a contractor or an agency. Send them to the shop instead. At £6 that costs them less than the email asking us.
- 03Use them as training data for a machine-learning model, or to generate a typeface out of them.
Serving a webfont to the people who visit your site counts as using it, not passing it on, so that’s covered. So is sending someone a PDF, an app or a document with the font embedded in it. The line we’re drawing is whether somebody else ends up with a font file they could install.
04Modifications
Change the fonts however you like for your own use. Redraw letters, adjust the spacing, subset them, convert them to something we don’t ship. Anything you make that way is still covered by this licence and still can’t be passed on. Renaming a copy you’ve changed doesn’t make it a different typeface.
05Nothing here can be revoked
This licence is perpetual, worldwide and irrevocable. The files you’ve downloaded stay yours to use whatever happens to Pothooks, to this website, or to us. There’s no renewal, no subscription attached and nothing more to pay, and you never need to ask us again about anything in clause 02.
You can download them again as often as you like, for free, for as long as the shop exists. The receipt for your purchase links straight to them. Keep your own copy somewhere anyway. That’s not a limitation on this licence, it’s just how backups work.
06Refunds
A font is digital content, delivered the moment you download it, so the 14-day right to cancel is lost as soon as that download starts. Our own policy is more generous than the law asks for anyway. Ask within 30 days and you get your money back, no reason needed. See refunds.
A refund ends this licence for that font, and you should delete the files. We have no way of taking them back and wouldn’t use one if we did, so this is a request rather than a mechanism. Keeping something you asked for your money back on is a decision about who you want to be.
07No warranty
The fonts come as they are, with no warranty of any kind, and Pothooks isn’t liable for anything that follows from using them. Nothing in this clause limits liability that can’t be limited by law, and nothing in it affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
08Who you are agreeing with
Dan Billson, trading as Pothooks, in the United Kingdom. Polar takes the payment as the merchant of record, so Polar is what shows up on your statement. There’s more on that arrangement in the terms, and on what they hold in privacy.
Anything this page didn’t answer, ask us at dan@dnbls.com. If we end up answering a licensing question by email, it’s a question this page should have answered, so it usually turns up here afterwards.
If you bought both faces, this licence covers each of them separately, and says the same thing about both.
